Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be taking on Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 8th match of the IPL 2024. It is the first match to be hosted by Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Both teams have not had an excellent start to their campaign in the IPL 2024. SRH lost their first match against KKR by just four runs after having them at 51/4 in the first inning at one stage. MI lost their first match against the Gujarat Titans by just six runs after dominating the game for the most part.
MI have been losing all their inaugural matches in the IPL since 2013. It was not any different in 2024, either, as they lost against GT. But it is in the same period that they have managed to win all five trophies in the league. They do have some great players in their lineup. SRH have not been good in the last few seasons of the IPL. In the previous three seasons, SRH has finished in the bottom half of the table. In two seasons, 2021 and 2023, they were arguably the worst team in the league. They have a good chance to turn things around in 2024, given the quality of the players. For that to happen, they need to win against MI. They have players on their roster like T. The match is set to take place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The surface here has been good for batters. Bowlers do have some assistance, as the pacers get some early swing, and the spinners can get some turn. But the batters enjoy playing here as the ball comes on nicely to the bat. Heinrich Klaasen has been one of the best batters in the format since November 2022. He has scored runs in top leagues like the IPL and the SA20. In the last game against KKR, he smashed 62(29) which took SRH closer to a great win.
Rohit Sharma MI | BAT
Rohit Sharma scored 43(29) in his first match of the season against GT. Though MI lost by six runs, Sharma was impressive. He has good record over the bowlers in the lineup of SRH, which might give him an edge in the match.
Jasprit Bumrah MI | BOWL
Jasprit Bumrah has the knack of taking wickets and being economical at the same time. The best display of it came against GT where the star pacer was the best bowler of the match. The right-arm pacer claimed 3/14 in his spell of four overs and showed his class.
